" I happen to like New York . . . I happen to love this town! "

Aug. 20 - 22, 2010

When I sang that solo in high school, I knew it was true for me then - and it's still true for me now!
 I LOVE NYC!
I could be the poster child for the "I (heart) NY" T-shirts.
(And it only is PARTIALLY because of Broadway . . . regardless of how BIG that part may be!)

However, I have to admit . . . even my love for this great city (and the awesome discount my in-laws got us on the hotel!) could not override what a challenge it was doing it with two little boys and a stroller on a hot day in the concrete jungle going up and down and up and down . . . and up and down the subway!
I think if I lived there it would be a little easier because you could go home, put your kids down for a nap, etc. Plus, I think you'd have a system figured out.
Maybe I'm a wimp, but as a "tourist?"
Not so kid-friendly, this city.

As you'll see, however, the kids are smiling - and so were Jacob and I . . . for the most part!

No place to nap? No problem!

Jake wanted to go to this bike gear store opening. He spoiled Luke and got him this cute hat . . .
which he managed to LOSE less that 12 hours later on the subway. (That'll teach ya to buy anything nice for a 4-year-old!) However, Luke was SO sad about it that I decided to go out on a limb and call the store and tell them the story. And guess what? They sent us a new one - for free! How cool is that?!?!

The boys in the dirty, dirty subway terminal . . . and Miles has his fingers in his mouth? Joy.

Times Square - The boys were on stimulus overload! They loved it! Ha!

These pictures were taken in a new place Nana B told us about: The High Line

It's an old elevated train track that the city and many amazing architects and artists have turned into an above - the - city park! Jacob and I both agreed this was a highlight of the trip!

We happened on the Chelsea market. It was fabulous!

Miles, of course, has to copy EVERYTHING Luke does . . . even LAYING down to color on the train! (That was another adventure . . . taking the train from our house to NYC. Again, wouldn't do it that way with the kids!) Overall, it was a fun - though EXHAUSTING - weekend!
