New York City Getaway - Day #1

Lately, I have been unable to keep up with blogging. SO . . .

In April, Jacob and I did something completely new for us -
we actually took a vacation without the boys!

My best friend / roommate from BYU and her husband left their 3 kids in Reno and met us in New York City for 3 jam - packed days of fun.

We arrived in the city JUST in time to get free tickets to see David Letterman.
(We were both literally RUNNING through the city to get there in time because we were each unable to leave Philly any earlier. We were quite the sight, I'm sure!)

Our taping was on Letterman's birthday.
We got to see Julia Louise - Dryfuss, a NY comedian and Bonnie Raitt! Yeah! (I love her.)

After the taping, we ran to TKTS to see if we could get any last minute cheap tickets to a show - and we did. We found really inexpensive tickets to Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara's new show,
Nice Work If You Can Get It.

Here is my piece about this show:
Broderick was truly hilarious and O'Hara is a fantastic singer/actress. It was all Gershwin music - so, you clearly can't go wrong there. The choreography was good, but the plot was weak. I was only glad we saw the show to see the two stars in action. They made the show worth it for me.

After, we ate the only good thing we could find - Halal Guys cart food. Oh yeah!
More of that to come . . . :)

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Well, it's only been TEN (yeah, that's right 10) months since my last post . . .

Clearly, I have taken a little hiatus from the blogging world. I just couldn't seem to make it a priority for awhile. So ok. There is NO WAY to attempt a "catch up" - we are much too busy for that and I'm sure I'd miss something. So, I will start again with Easter. It's all about new beginnings, right?

We went to the local Easter Festival / Egg Hunt on Saturday.
The boys loved the bounce house!

This photo totally describes Miles' attitude about being posed for pictures . . .

Luke is a good influence though . . .

And the egg hunt begins!

Please excuse the fact that we are all showing a little underwear and skin. I love this pic anyway.

Our egg dying party at home!

MOST of Miles' eggs went a little something like this as he was decorating:

CRACK!
(good thing they are boiled . . . )

 EASTER MORNING!
and
HAPPY 31st BIRTHDAY, JACOB!

Luke was allowed to climb on the kitchen counter (!!!) to get the eggs that silly Easter Bunny put in the window!

The best we could get with the tripod of the whole fam after church:

We had some friends over for dinner. Since most of the day was geared to Easter, I cooked Filipino food from Jake's mission for his birthday dinner:
Chicken Adobo and a mango tart with toasted coconut crust. Y-U-M!

Fieldtrip to the Insectarium

Okay, I despise spiders. However, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to chaperone Luke's preschool field trip. The boys loved it! The more poisonous and scary looking - the more they liked it!

Luke was brave enough to touch a live scorpion!
(But not to eat a cheese covered mealworm. I was soooo glad about that! :)
