Luke's Baptism

All year, Luke has been anxiously awaiting his baptism.  We had talked about it as a family several times before the big day came.  Each time we spoke about it, we could see Luke's genuine enthusiasm and desire to make this important step in his life. When we asked him why it was important to be baptized - he told us it was because baptism is like dying and getting resurrected - you get a new life! Plus, we need to follow Jesus' example! :)

May 25, 2014 was his special day!

It's crazy to think that our little Luke is 8!

We were so lucky to have several family members travel long distances - both by plane and car - to join us! Kami's parents flew from Georgia, Kami's Aunt Kelli flew from Ohio and Jacob's sister Rachel, her husband, David, and their 6 kids drove from Washington D.C.! Yay for family!!!

Luke wanted as much family involved in the program as possible! Papa and Uncle David said prayers, Lola and Mommy gave talks, Aunt Rachel conducted the music and Hannah & Abigail played a violin/viola duet!

After the baptism, Kami (and friends) put on a Southern BBQ luncheon at the church for any who attended.

Hangin' at home after church - playing, pasta and Luke's requested treat:

When Grandma Lizzy talked to him on the phone the evening of his baptism she asked him how he felt about being baptized. He replied: "I thought it was going to be great. But actually, it was HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!"

We are so proud of, and HAPPY for, our Lukie!
